basic if else

I know this is pretty basic, but i cant figure it out to save my life. i want it to ask for a variable, as long as that variable isnt -/0 i want it to print out the area. else if the variable is -/0, i want it to print out invalid entry. the only problem is it will still try to print out the answer along with "invalid entry"

what am i doing wrong here?

/program circle.c/
#include <stdio.h>
float area, R;

int main()
{printf("Enter radius R in inches: \n");
scanf("%f", &R);
area=3.14159*R*R;}

if \(R<=0\)

{printf("Invalid entry\n");}
else
{printf("Area = %f sq. in.\n", area);}

Try replacing the float type with a double, but still use %f in the scanf string.
