admintool seems to only work when consoled in with the GUI
which means, i need to be at the server to run admintool?
i believe so....that is the only place I can get it to run
You can run it elsewhere permitted you are using an X based client of some sort like Reflection X. I do it all the time. You will not be able to use telnet directly, but it may be involved indirectly to connect you to the remote system and start a session for you to launch the xterm. admintool is GUI only, unlike SMIT (AIX) and SAM (HP) that work in GUI or text mode.
What are you trying to use admintool to do? All the functions I can think of in admintool have a command line counterpart.
just for the knack of challenge...
i download xmanager and all is fine.. now including admintool..
cheers
xmanager is shareware will will expire indefinitely..
is there any freeware which is equivalent to xmanager.. thanks
