What's the purpose of rj45-like connector on front panel of p5 55A server ?

Hi,

What is the purpose of this connector ?
I attached picture of it.
In docs it is called "Ethernet connector".

Section 2.15.5 of the redbook REDP-4138 (p5 550 and 550q Tech Overview ) has a diagram of the operator panel which looks just like your diagram. The book labels this port as Serial Port 1 alternate connector. It is used to attach a TTY console to the system unit without getting around behind it. You would normally administer this system from an HMC, so this port is not especially useful. But there are some functions such as ASMI access that can be performed from a TTY. I've never done it, but I think if the system is configured as a full-system LPAR, then this would be the tty0 port.
