What can I do,if I want windows me and unix stay in the same computer?

My computer's operating system is windows me,now.I want install unix in it while I don't want to kill the windows me.So could u tell me what to do?I'd like you give me detailed information about it.Thank u.

I'm assuming you only have 1 hard drive in the machine. You will need to repartition it so that you have a second partition available to install your operating system. There is a program called Partition Magic which will do this without destroying any of your data. I have used it under Win2k with absolutely no problems. You'll have to check the docs to find out about Windows ME support though.

Alternative is to install a 2nd hard drive and use that...

I would recomend RedHat 7 for the OS. You will have to partition the drive like described above or install a second drive. Then boot off of the installer floppy, letting the insatller partition the disk. Be careful that you select the proper disk partition (the one thats not formatted FAT32)
Best of luck...
