/var/adm/messages file is missing

Hi, The server is p570 with AIX@5300-10...

The messages file is missing...how do I get it back and start logging the messages??

Can I just create the file again?

Hello gkr747

The file is wtmp, ? I look in that path /var/adm and I dont find the messages file.

If the file its wtmp (when you want to see, users login with command last |more for example)

You run this command /usr/sbin/acct/nulladm >wtmp and create a new file wtmp in /var/adm

I hope this helps.

Greetings

I am talking about the messages file not WTMP file...The file should contain console messages...I think somebody may have deleted it by mistake...need to know the process to recreate it so that it works again

I have recreated the file and restarted the syslogd daemon...that fixed the issue and now messages are flowing just fine...issue is resolved...just thought of letting know here..thanks!
