user cannot login into AIX-6.1 server

Dear Friends ,

I got a problem In our AIX 6.1 server . When I start or restart the machine I cannot Login the server . It shows a dialog box and shows some comments , those are :

The DT messaging system could not be started .
To correct the problem :

  1. Choose [OK] to return the login screen
  2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu and log in
  3. Check to see that the hostname is corrected by using the command :
    smit mktcpip
  4. Check to see that if a search list is specified in /etc/resolv.conf, it includes the domain your machine is configured on .

Now I myself try all above the four ways and did not find any errors . I check also IP , resolv.conf , /etc/hosts files also . But the problem is not solved .
Would anybody plz suggest me , How can I resolve this problem ?

so you can login remote (ssh/telnet/rlogin), but not in cde, ist that right?

and other users can login?

if that's the case, move all files from the users home directory to a backup dir, especially hidden files, and try to login again

edit: I found a system here that has cde installed, try to move .dt and .dtprofile first
