but the scp between the 2 servers is between 100KB and 300KB,

Is there any other config to check

Check jumbo frames, MTU settings.

Your interface MTU is still 1500, so those larger pings are being fragmented. That does not confirm jumbo frames are enabled end-to-end.

For 100–300KB/s, I would next check:

1. Interface speed/duplex on both sides:

```sh
entstat -d ent0 | egrep -i "Speed|Duplex|Media|Link"
entstat -d en0 | egrep -i "Speed|Duplex|Media|Link"
```

1. TCP retransmits/errors:

```sh
netstat -s | egrep -i "retrans|timeout|duplicate|dropped|error"
netstat -v ent0
```

1. CPU during transfer, because scp/sftp encryption can bottleneck older AIX systems:

```sh
topas
vmstat 1
```

1. Raw network test without SSH encryption, if allowed, for comparison. For example `ftp`, `nc`, or another non-encrypted transfer test.

2. Disk I/O during transfer:

```sh
iostat -Dl 1
```

If raw network transfer is fast but scp/sftp is slow, the bottleneck is probably SSH cipher/CPU..

You have not mentioned if you were using a dedicated private lan for this purpose: When I was still working, all my servers (AIX, HP-UX, SOLARIS) were configured with a minimum of 2 networks, the second called technical, for backups and fast transfer, because very difficult to get good performance on production Lan where users and DB request compete with high data volume...

Reading again, this thread, I realise also that you describe not the purpose, you have not said if you had an issue, nor most importantly, and I would guess, you concern, what /how much you wish to transfer, could be useful to know also, at which interval, depending on what you are trying, there may be better and faster alternatives to scp/sftp which are at file level commands designed as such...

IMHO this is the issue:

> [@LAMJED](#):
>
> but the scp between the 2 servers is between 100KB and 300KB,

If this is 100-300 KByte per second, about 2Mbit/sec, even with an old 100Mbit NIC you can expect more.

I remember an auto-negotiation problem between LAN switch and unpatched Sun-Sparc-Solaris boxes. (And the required NIC patch was not in the "recommended patches".)
So, in addition to the previous suggestions, the actual NIC speed and the simplex/duplex value should be checked!
