I checked my syslog for errors and the error I got was
alert;kern.err;daemon.err
I know the error deals with the daemon but I don't know exactly what it means.
That does not look like a syslog error message. Syslog error messages have time-stamps and lots more information. What is the name of the file you opened to provide the info in your post?
That looks like something that should be in the /etc/syslog.conf file, not actual log files.
