Sun Fire v440 hardware problem (can't get ok>)

First of all it's shut down 60 second after power on and write on console :
SC Alert: Correct SCC not replaced - shutting managed system down!
This is cured by moving out battery from ALOM card.
Now server start to loop during the testing.

Looks like you need a new NVRAM chip or else at new battery for it at least. If you have another Sun machine with the same NVRAM chip model it would be worth swapping them to prove whether what I suspect is correct or not. If the NVRAM chip in this machine is definitely faulty then it can be worth cutting open the top and attaching a watch battery in place of the internal battery if you can do a bit of hardware? Take a look at: NVRAM Battery Fix FAQ and Sun 3/80 NVRAM. The fact that your NVRAM can't be read rather than just giving an empty hostid, etc means that it is probably more faulty than just having a flat battery.

try use a SUN keyboard and use Stop+A sequence,
poweroff and replace the NVRAM,
type printenv and ensure auto-boot? is false and diag-level is min

I can't find NVRAM in my Sun Fire V440. I found something similar on ALOM card. Can I work and Install Solaris with that error NVRAM?

the message:
0>POST: Return to OBP.

SC Alert: Host System has Reset

Could not read diag-switch? from NVRAM!

shows you error. The ALOM is okay, the POST has run, then the
server will return to OBP, therefor he reads the contents of the NVRAM.
But your NVRAM is flashed, you can't boot or install Solaris, cause
the NVRAM is the BIOS of the V440, where all pathes and infos for
your hardware is been saved.
The only way is to install a new NVRAM, you need a support contract
and a service call, or a new motherboard.

How about system configureation card (SCC)? Can I wotk without it an install OS?

Yeah,

in fact you can, but it won't help you, cause your NVRAM is flashed.
The card holds the the server host id, so you can change installed
applications with licenses to new hardware with changing the card.
Or better, if you put the discs with licensed applications in a second
v440 don't forget to change teh SSD card.

That's very interesting because without SCC server shuttind down after 60 sec
I solved problem with SCC but server still can't get "ok> " prompt. It's looping in CPU test and give red exception error (RED State Exception

Error enable reg: 0000.0000.0000.0000

CPU: 0000.0000.0000.0001

TPC=0000.0000.f000.4200 TnPC=0000.0000.f000.4204 TSTATE=0000.0044.1500.1500)

The same result is with one, two and three CPU module(4 cpu module exist). Because of that I think this is not a CPU problem.
There are no other errors display except CPU looping and can't get ok> !!!

If a batery of nvram is low the "ok>" promt must appear.
Any advice?

I have already try "Stop-N" during the boot server and Stop-A to get ok pompt after all test PASSED without any problem.
What I can get is only ALOM pompt after pressed .# , but I have'not password and can't get OK> prompt or any other pompt except ALOM.

Where is the problem? May be someone have met this problem defore

If you talking to your server via the ALOM card you need to type in:

console

to get through to where you can see the OK prompt (or the > prompt if the security-mode is set to something other than none).

If that does not help then try a serial connection to the first serial port, ttya (dare I suggest a Windows laptop running hyperterm or a Linux machine running mincom).

I have already tryed all this methods whithout result. There is nothing displayed when I connect to ttyb and the password for ALOM was losed. (Solaris is not installed and dasn't boot from dvd)

I have had no experience of having an ALOM card I did not know the password for or else at least root access to the server itself so I could reset it. I am wondering if removing the ALOM card and putting it into a host where you do have the root password and the appropriate packages would help (if it is a removable card)? I realise having access to an alternate machine may be a problem!

If you using Netra 440, try this :
username root or admin
with password : sfv440
