Solaris 2.4 boot question

Hi Guy's,

Newbee here.
I installed Solaris 2.4 in VMWare Fusion 5.0.2 on a MacBook Pro.
All went well, but after 'system ready' I get a 'console login' prompt.
But I never got to the point where I could set a name and password for that.
I can login as root. But that's all.
How do I get to the graphical user interface?

Please help.

Cheers hansolo

Solaris 2.4, really ?

It was released 20 years ago ...

Does the file /usr/openwin/bin/openwin exist?

Yeah, it's a retro thing.
I like installing and running old os's.
I made an OpenStep computer out of a x86 PC
and a Beos Box also out of a x86 PC.
And lots of emulated os's.

Thanks so much. That did the trick!
As you might already have figured out, I'm not a code wizard. :o

I'm in the windows shell, but the pointer is frozen and I can't do anything.
I guess there are some drivers missing. Or some may need to be altered
for them to work in emulation. :frowning:

Great !

Beware of Y2K though !

Openwin almost certainly will not work in emulation. However CDE was available for Solaris 2.4 and that may work.

I'm so green. I don't know what you mean.
I'm more or less a WYSIWYG kind a person. :o

I manage to create boot disks and read a lot in fora and watch a lot of tutorials on how to make stuff work.

But I will surely look into it.

Thanks
