Hi guys.
I need to install SFTP client on my Linux machine Redhat 5.8.
Which packages do I need for that ??
Regards,
yum whatprovides */sftp
when i run the following command:
yum search ftp
I get this result:
ftp.x86_64 : The standard UNIX FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client.
So , I need to install ftp.x86_64 ???
No. Why would you search for ftp when you want sftp?
sftp is part of the openssh package, which yum whatprovides */sftp would have shown had you run it.
Ok . So this is what I get when I run it :
[root@silverapp0 ~]# yum whatprovides */sftp
Loaded plugins: katello, product-id, security, subscription-manager
Updating certificate-based repositories.
Unable to read consumer identity
openssh-clients-4.3p2-82.el5.x86_64 : The OpenSSH client applications
Repo : installed
Matched from:
Filename : /usr/bin/sftp
How do I enable this service ?
service sshd start
Depending on how your run levels are configured and what you need, for after a reboot:
chkconfig --level 345 sshd on
This, of course, is a server not a client, as you asked.
prompt in terminal
sftp login@remote_sftp_server
