Server Configuration

hi,

I am new to this forum as well new to unix . i also wish to know the commands to find out the configuration of our server.

i did try these commands

uname -a and it gave this

unixware agk2 5 7.1.4 i386 x86at sco unix - svr5.

i did try out these commands to get more info on

cpu info---- cat/proc/cpuinfo

memory ----- free -m

mother board details ----- biosdecode / dmidecode

hard disk ------ smartctl

but these commands were not accepted

could any one pl let me know the correct command to be used to get these above details.

thanks in advance

What do you mean by these commands are not accepted ?

hi,

it says

-ksh: not found

i think most of the commands you've used are for linux... have a look here:

Rosetta Stone for Unix

hi,

i did try hwconfig
hw
hwconfig -h
swconfig

it all gives the same error

did you run the commands as user "root"? are the commands inside your PATH?

check:

echo $PATH

hi,

i did use the command in root only

there are two questions... you only answered one...

maybe the problem is that these particular commands are not available on this old version of SCO Unixware.

hi,

may be true. the reason why i want these configuration details itself is to propose a note in my office to upgrade these servers. could you pl give me the commands which might work for this old version.

i even got a result from this command to check the shell details

$env

i have attached the text file for reference.

So from what I see, your shell is pure sh (quite sure its statically linked) : /sbin/sh
you tried to use bash but there is none installed.. I you are in GUI mode using a dtterm as terminal...
Is there no GUI application like scoadmin that can help you?
You should have hwconfig (-h) command...

Unixware 7.1.4 is the current version. Documentation is all here The SCO Group, Inc. | Support | Docs | Documentation | UnixWare
