SATA AHCI Tape on SCO 5.0.7

Dear all,
I'm newbie in SCO. I already purchase SCO 5.0.7 and SATA Tape Drive (not SCSI) for IBM server. not a cheap investment :frowning:

my problem is:
I can't use my sata tape on sco 5.0.7 for backup my data because sco can't detect any sata tape has been plug into o/s. i already running "mkdev tape" command (like Tape Drive or CDROM Not Found says) and sco still can not detech my tape.
for information, bios can detech my sata tape (i change bios setting => enable-enhanced sata).

any advice???

thanks a lot,

PS

Unfortunately 5.0.7 does not detect or will use SATA tape streamers.

It will use SCSI DAT tape streamers just fine.

SCO might be using SATA drivers to access the RAID array, but this won't help you to access the SATA tape drive unfortunately.

I have successfully set them up before on 5.0.7.
Here's a link that helped out:

Panchu's thoughts: SATA Tape drive configuration on SCO 5.0.7

it's look like this site give me what i need.
i'll try it tommorow on my server.

i'll tell you all if i successed/failed implement this way.

thanks a lot.

Hello,

If you try to install the tape drive on a raid controler it will drive you nuts...

ALL raid controlers expect hard drives ONLY. (SCSI, IDE and yes SATA)

you need a seperate controler for your tape drive with NO raid capabilities on it.

Hi, please advise... port of SATA in the server is not support Raid, and designed specially for DDS5 SATA TAPE, but when we tried to use the manual that given from Panchu still failed. Appreciate for your help on this.

Thanks
