PROM password

I have a query. Its about the PROM password on a SUN ULTRA5.

I am the administrator of a UNIX network, which is actually a private network within the company that I work for. The IT department who supplied the workstations will not remove the PROM passwords - I need it removed in order to do install/maintain each workstation individually. (They need the password left on the PROM, so they can charge my section each time I need access to the PROM!!)

Is there anyway that I can get this password by command/series of commands when I log on as Super-User?

There is ways to disable the password. Just like hardware configurations. But as far as i concern what you are trying to do now is illegal. Somehow looks illegal. Why is this because first of all you are a Administrator and your company's IT Dept doesnt wish to disable the password due to their chargeing. It would be best if they remove it from the System themself else if you do it and they found out than you are "doomed" from there. ( Just an advise happends on most the company. )

*Some info/tips. PROM password usually stores in the BIOS Chip of a workstation. Try pressing START - N during bootup (required reboot).
