Well, I desided after all the help here and all the local advice in school to install OpenSolaris in the machine...
Not to not-appreciate all the help in this forum. To all of you that helped...thanks a million.
Installation is way smoother than solaris 10 and I have been able to get at least 2 books specific to OpenSolaris. The OpenSolaris Bible and Pro OpenSolaris from amazon.
After installation and taking a terminal trip into the system I realized that there were lots of settings that were wrong for the system I have :o.
A great number of students and faculty told me to stick with Ubuntu or other Linux flavor, but I still want to learn from a System V based OS.
I have been busy with Java classes now and rarely log into the OpenSolaris platform even when I have NetBeans installed in it because I started with NetBeans on a Win XP tiny laptop I take to school...:rolleyes:.
Any other ideas or suggestions will be well received from anybody on this forum...
