pkgadd: errno 28: No space left on device

Hi,

During package install, am getting:

WARNING: unable to write temp contents file </var/sadm/install/t.contents>
(errno 28: No space left on device)

I tried to delete some stuff under "/var" But I cannot locate who is occupying "/var" space. Because:

# df -h /var/
Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0s0 5.0G 4.8G 117M 98% /

AND

# du -ksh /var/
 426M /var

Not able to locate who is eating "/var" space.

Please guide.

Bye,
Viki.

/var isn't a separate file system on your installation. You need to look everywhere in the / file system (still including /var) for potential big files/directories to clean, if any.

Hi,

Just want to confirm: should I check all dir/files inder "/" ?

# df -h
Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0s0 5.0G 4.8G 144M 98% /
/devices 0K 0K 0K 0% /devices
ctfs 0K 0K 0K 0% /system/contract
proc 0K 0K 0K 0% /proc
mnttab 0K 0K 0K 0% /etc/mnttab
swap 2.8G 892K 2.8G 1% /etc/svc/volatile
objfs 0K 0K 0K 0% /system/object
/usr/lib/libc/libc_hwcap1.so.1
                       5.0G 4.8G 144M 98% /lib/libc.so.1
fd 0K 0K 0K 0% /dev/fd
swap 2.8G 72K 2.8G 1% /tmp
swap 2.8G 28K 2.8G 1% /var/run
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0s7 129G 26G 101G 21% /export/home

Yes but what you show are all the mounted file systems. Only the first one (/) is of interest for your package installation issue.

Sorry, I didn't got your point. Can you give more details. I am not a solaris expert.

Thanks
