Paging space

Hello everyone

I have 4g of paging space in my rootvg disk

Im going to reduce them to 1gb in my rootvg disk and add 3gb of paging space on my san disk.

My rootvg disk is mirror.

My question is I can do this on line ?

and I can do with the mirror ? or I need to unmirror first my rootvg disk.

My box doesnt have to much use, I dont need to do this in the night.

Thanks for your replys

If you have AIX 5.3 then you can do this. Maybe you have to also have P5 hardware but I don't think so. Just make a new paging space on your SAN disks (although I would not do this) then shrink your hd6 using chps.

By all means make all the paging spaces equal in size. AIX uses them round-robin and therefor you might considerable decrease paging performance if you have unevenly sized paging spaces.

Usually the paging space is used to store OS dumps, so make sure the size of the paging space is big enough to hold the system dump (check with the command sysdumpdev).

I hope this helps.
