Use VirtualBox from Sun. 
that won't give you OBP access...?! i don't know if such a tool exists never heard about that. but maybe the documentation at http://docs.sun.com can help yo out.
you can pick up a legit sun box these days off ebay for ... $100 or so.

An Ultra 10 workstation will be ideal for that (practise purposes)

You can get used machines from SUN partners or dealers, they might have old decommed machines which might be of help to you. its cheaper .. of course you must test it to be stable.. 
qemu-sparc emulator uses OpenBios QEMU
I have no experience on it though so I don't know how close it is from Sun OpenBoot implementation.
