I have an Ultra5 with 2.56 that is connected to a network. We don't use a proxy server on the network but access the internet directly through a gateway. How do I configure the Solaris box to see the internet?
Opening the internet explorer and setting HTTP; FTP etc ports to the ip of the gateway doesn't seem to work.
quick question,
Can you
a) ping the gateway
b) ping the other machine('s) on your network.
c) can you ping anything on the otherside of the gateway (e.g. www.cisco.com)

Ok so it looks like a DNS issue.
search the forum for DNS and resolve.conf They have been covered a thousand times and some of the results throw-up some really good explinations of configuration, troubleshooting and issues.
