mksysb and boot.image

hello

i saved my system this morning, mksysb tape, and i have the message: "boot.image exceeded the size....." i have not the end because the message is disappeared.
where can i find the mksysb message in a log ?
the message is scary ?

thank you

We have had that error message ever since we moved to AIX 5.2. We have been told by IBM that it is no problem and that it is due to an internal parameter that has not been increased as the O/S size has grown. We have restored happily from them without problems.

ok thanks !
but you know where i can find the mksysb log ?
thank you

Sorry, no idea where mksysb log is.

ok thank you !

Hi Pascalbout,
try looking in /var/adm/ras for your log file.
The message indicates that the boot size is larger than what may boot from tape.
You could reduce the boot image size by removing unnecessary device files.
However if you need to boot from tape, and your system hangs because of this boot image size then just use an install CD to get the system booted. Then restore the
tape as usual.

thank you very much !
i have find nothing in this directory, but there is a lot of files, i go to search
where and how can i reduce the size of this file ? with smit or vi ?
thanks
