minimum password length

how i can make the password 5chs minimum length in hp-ux 11i ? pls help

With recent versions of HP-UX, this is controlled via the security file. You would just edit the MIN_PASSWORD_LENGTH entry. I don't think that worked on 11i though. However, if you install the Shadow Password Package, I think you will be able to do this.

In hp ux 11i i coundn't find any security file with the entry min_password_length, in /etc/default/security that entry is with #.

Well try uncommenting it and see if it works. But again, my suggestion is to install the shadow password package which will give you a more modern version of the passwd command.
