Hello folks,

Could someone tell me why I unable to create pdisks for a RAID Array

someone told me the RAID controller might not be installed as a H/W Feature Code. How can I confirm this ?

I do not have your hardware at hand, so the advice tends to be a bit general.

Having said this: is your PCI-X SCSI-Adapter RAID-capable at all? "SCSI" is a way to connect disks, whereas "RAID" is a way to organize several physical disks into one big logical disk. A SCSI adapter doesn't necessarily have to be RAID-capable at all (and maybe yours isn't).

Are there any disks attached to the controller? Without (enough) disks you can't create a RAID-array, obviously.

According to this IBM link the correct driver is

Further, there is this document about "RAID enablements". You might simply have not met the requirements for a RAID.

I have read the documents, the confusion arising if whether the hardware supports or not,

as you mentioned that I need to download the driver
devices.pci.1410be02 device driver package

i will install and check and post here if it solves the problem. But my main concern is that does the hardware support or not ?

It really looks like you have the non-RAID version of the adapter.

Hi,

It seems you have hmc as you have created lpars. So from hmc go to server profile and in io check for the adapter. If its raid card then there will be RAID adapter. Its a simplest way to check for your hardware details.

No, I don't have HMC connected to it at all. Regardless of HMC connection, RAID Controller / Adapter should work independently.

Because there is no evidence that you have a raid adapter.
What makes you think you do when none of your devices report in as raid adapters.
You simply don't have to load drivers for AIX, the install does that for you.
YOU DO NOT HAVE A RAID ADAPTER IN YOUR SYSTEM!

Which part of "you don't have one" you couldn't understand?

You can ask the question again as often as you want, but this will fail to make the adapter RAID-capable in a predictable fashion - any time.
