Hi All,
I've recently been given an HP-UX Visualise J5600 to look after which runs our backup management software - it's connected to the network via 2 Gigabit Fibre channel cables.
Any ideas which command will give me the full connection details for those interfaces (and/or any others coming out the back of this box!) The card and slot details would be helpful as well as the ip addresses.
My concern is that although the ip address for the actual server is on one network, that at least one of the FC connections is assigned to a seperate VLAN (the backend network normally deals with the actual backup traffic) - would this be reflected in the answer to the above command or is there a seperate command to show all details of all interfaces?
(Moderators - I'm not sure if this is more a HP-UX question than a specific Dummies one so let me know if it needs to be posted elsewhere...)
Thanks for your help.
Use the command 'lanscan' to get basic details of the devices that are present on your system.
Then use ifconfig <lan_if_name> to get details about each interface.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
This is HP-UX specific and I will move it to the HP-UX forum at some point.
I prefer ioscan over lanscan. There is also "netstat -i". But the lanadmin command in interactive mode will show the most info. Below, I show them all in use. What I typed is in green. Some important info is in red. A few remarks that I added are in blue.
