installing solaris

i have a laptop that i am no longer using and wish to try and install solaris 10 on it for learning purposes but im stumped. i went to sun.com and downloaded the dvd image but i feel like im at a dead end. the files and folders on the dvd image are clearly meant to be used on an existing unix-based machine. do i format this sucker and try booting from the dvd? i dont think it is a bootable disc tho..

<---lost

I've been able to boot a laptop from that DVD but my machine did not have enough memory. I used the 5 CD-ROM set downloadable from sun.com and that installed much more successfully.

It should install on a machine with no operating system installed.

yes, I think it's easy for download ISO CD Image from sun.com, burn it and install. I was installed it in my Laptop and thereis I was install Windows XP and no problem with my windows OS...
