Install software in another directory with smitty install

Hello,

I would like to ask if someone knows if is possible to install sofware via smitty or installp in another directorie , or we have to accept the default location?

i would like to intall in /opt folder , but smitty installed it in /usr

Thanks in advance []

Let me ask, what are you trying to install?

Is that a third party software or native OS software?

communications server for aix , but i would like to point to /opt/communications for example , but aix insist in installing in /usr ....
is there a way to change this?

To the best of my knowledge NO,
More over '/usr' contains the executable files. Probably it will install in '/usr/bin'.

Unless it is not asking you for installation path (like an application or DB), do not try to change the location.

thank you  , will follow u advise
