Take a look at the man page for man du (POSIX).
And if you meant the /proc directory, the "size" of that won't tell you anything as it's just a virtual file system which acts as an interface to kernel data structures.
I have tried a few steps using du command, but i do not what is the real size.
nv2am:/acec/nv2am> du pproc/
128 pproc/files/parseRules
116 pproc/files/ddf
115728 pproc/files
48 pproc/data/test
0 pproc/data/output
0 pproc/data/error
68 pproc/data
139022 pproc/
nv2am:/acec/nv2am> du -s pproc/
139040 pproc/
nv2am:/acec/nv2am> du -b pproc/
128 pproc/files/parseRules
116 pproc/files/ddf
115728 pproc/files
48 pproc/data/test
0 pproc/data/output
0 pproc/data/error
68 pproc/data
139022 pproc/
nv2am:/acec/nv2am> du -k pproc/
64 pproc/files/parseRules
58 pproc/files/ddf
57864 pproc/files
24 pproc/data/test
0 pproc/data/output
0 pproc/data/error
34 pproc/data
69511 pproc/
use the -h option..
du -sh /tmp
