How many Core in AIX6 & AIX7?

How many Core in AIX6 & AIX7 ..

Please guys I want commands to know how many Core in these two different version please i need exact command ?

I thought about pointing you to lparstat -i or prtconf for a short time, but i think the problem is elsewhere. When i entered

AIX how many cores

into Google up came "About 415,000 results (0.32 seconds)", all saying you haven't even tried.

You also haven't searched our forum, because among the top results in Google there is this:

http://www.unix.com/aix/113923-how-find-number-physical-processors-aix-machine.html

and this:

not to mention the several threads at IBM Developerworks, for instance:

https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/html/topic?id=77777777-0000-0000-0000-000014134691

You may think about why you opened a thread for something a 5-second search could have yielded the result. I am sure this will help you more than knowing the number of processors in a system.

Actually, AIX does not have any cores. AIX has threads per core. For AIX 6.1 and 7.1 the answer is the same, 1, 2 or 4 depending on SMT mode chosen on Power7, and 1 or 2 on Power5 and Power6. Older POWER processors had only one thread per core/processor. (FYI, AIX 5.3 only has support for ST, SMT2 (1 or 2 threads per core on processors - Power5|6|7 that support SMT).

Hope this helps clear out what can be found in 415000 entries. I doubt they are all concise.

Hope this helps!
