Can i install HMC on an x86 or x64 machine..
i have (2) rs6000 44p model 170 . OS: AIX 5.3 TL 7
I want to practice HMC and LPAR.
HMC code can be installed on IBM x86 dedicated HMC machines only - so not any normal x86 PC.
HMC cannot communicate with sub power4 machines - so not your 44p 170.
There are various forums that tell you how to install the HMC code on non-IBM HMC x86 machines, even vmware, but you will not be able to manage your 44p from a HMC.
What is an x64 system? is it a x86 - 64 bit system? Just for my own "non-86" aware interest you understand...
IBM views the HMC as an appliance and not a computer.. you will find it very hard to get them to be any sort of lienient.
