Help with bandwidth Limit for netgear

Hello All ,

Hope you are doing good.

I have a netgear router + modem in my home . My roommate brought his friend as a guest , he is downloading stuff like crazy day and night , while talking with my friend in India got to know there is concept called BANDWIDTH LIMIT wherein i can set/control the limit of that person's usage .

i tried in my netgear modem IP , but didn`t find the option . can you guys help me on that , this is very critical problem for me as of now .

Thanks in advance .

i seriously doubt if this feature is available on your equipment.

Why does that mean ? There is an option available on Modems .

Is there any such feature in the manual for your router? If not, there probably isn't.

I'd suggest just blocking his MAC address. A router is a lot more likely to support that, and he is abusing your hospitality.

Again, how to do that depends on how its manual says to do it. They're not all the same.

The service you would like is called QoS, and it should exist on netgear wireless routers (depends on the model etc. check on router page).
Setup it by mac and limit the sucker

If you don't have it, and you are using LAN cable, you can limit wireless transfer rate to 1MBIT.

Hope that helps
Regards
Peasant.
