The situation is this

I Will be getting or running a job to get files from an ftp site every day.  I want to compare the size of the file in the ftp site and the size which i had received by ftp.  how to do this. I am in solaris 2.x.   I hope ther is no command like remote file size .  Can anyone help me how to do it

If you don't control both sites, you may not be able to implement that solution. You would have to have the other system's admin send the files a certain way and some folks just won't listen;)

There is no command in ftp to check the file size but you may be able to see the file size via ftp dir command. It matters on the ftp running. Possible that you could compare it but I've not done it this way before.
