Ive an application that runs in a Digital Tru64, exporting display to a Linux host.
That application blinks a icon (in XPM mode) when the severity mode changes.
When I put a backdrop(XPM, too) in that screen, the icons blink slowly. When I remove it, they turn to blink quickly.
I have this result only when Im exporting display to another machine. When it runs locally, it works well.
Im sorry.
The question is: Is there a problem in export graphics that make refreshes in graphics XPMs? Or can I consider only the networks bandwidth?
Can I export display with parameters or something else to reduce the delay?
Network bandwidth may be an issue here. On 10mbit links you may notice some slowdown with graphics intensive applications. Consider upgrading to 100mbit on both ends if you havent already.
Also consider the graphics capabilities of the remote display. What kind of machine is it? What kind of graphics card? If it is a 486 with a cheap video card, that could be the source of the bottle neck.
