EMC Failover

Hi guys,

I'm running vxdmp and powerpath at the same time. Vxdmp for internal disks and powerpath for external.

The problem is that, on the failover tests which a fiber cable should be removed, the system cannot recognize the disks.

Any hints on how to configure powerpath in order to correctly handle the failover?

Thank you

What do you mean by "the system cannot recognize the disks"? Do you mean the OS loses visibility to the data in the SAN? Disconnecting the fiber cable should not prevent the OS from recognizing the volume presented by Powerpath.

What's the output of

powermt display dev=all

Thank you for replying.

What I mean is that after removing one cable, command like "format" and "vxdisk -o alldgs list", keep searching for disks and don't show any.

Here is the "powermt display" output, in a normal situation (with the 2 FC connected)

According to this output, you don't have a license. Do you have a license for Powerpath? Have you installed the license with emcpreg ?

Thank you for replying.

You right, I didn't apply the correct license. But this couldn't solve the problem.

But I found a way to disable the dmp feature that was handling the storage at the same time as powerpath. Using the following commands:

# vxddladm settune monitor_fabric=off
# vxdmpadm settune dmp_probe_idle_lun=off

Cheers
