Hello everybody, had a question.
Iam having a p650 box here, System Model: IBM,7038-6M2
Machine Serial Number: 1078DCC
managed system - 1 which has 2 lpars on it

i added memory to the box(made sure that memory added was in proper quads and was verified by a CE)
after i rebooted the box, the managed system still shows the old memory setting and is not able to detect the new memory, i changed the properties of each of the lpar, desired memory: added memory to the value but when the lpar comes up it still shows old memory.
is there something I need to do, pls let me know

change the settings in profile, shutdown und boot the machine, don't just reboot

Funksen: thanks a lot for ur reply.
well actually on the first place, I did the following below
1) shutdown the lpars
2) powered off the hmc(using poweroff option on websm)
3)changed the desired value in memory for both the lpars(to reflect a higher value)
4)after memory was added, hit the front panel power button
5) as soon as managed system was ready the lpars activated automatically

still i saw that memory was the old setting in managed system properties

any suggestions are appreciated

you don't have to shutdown the hmc, just the lpar :slight_smile:

reading what you've already done, I can just give you two options what can be wrong:

  1. there is not enough memory in the machine
  2. you boot the wrong profile

perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't see any other possibility here

edit: assuming you've done no mistake with editing the profile

hello, we just found out that the memory was not in proper quads thus leading to the problem and the system not able to detect the memory.
