Compatible version of AIX/SAMBA and Longhorn

Hello,

I need to upgrade Domain from Windows 2000 to Windows 2008 (Longhorn) and I need to know what is the compatible version of Samba to access to windows share from AIX.

Thank you for your help

I don't know it - I would have to try it out myself.

If I understood you correct, ie. that you want to connect from AIX to a win share, you just need the smbclient for AIX, not the whole samba server.
If you get no solution, nfs/pcnfs might be an alternative.

You didn't indicate your AIX level, but assuming it is >5.1, then look at Index of /samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX

The client should be in this package. If it doesn't work on Windows 2008, the SAMBA folks will surely be interested.

Recent levels of AIX also include bos.cifs_fs.rte fileset. This provides the client capabilities. CIFS is the new name for the SMB protocol used by Windows and SAMBA.
