Cloning with flarcreate .... and back

Hello Forum,

I'd like to clone a Solaris 10 System. Well, I read a lot about flarcreate.

Anyway I only read how to _create a flash archive by using flarcreate. But I don't know how to copy the data back to another harddisk from an ar:confused:chive to get a second runing system.

flarcreate -n system1 -X /flash /flash/system1.flar

Well, and now???

Could you give me a hin, please.

Thanks!
Je

See:
Extracting a file from a Solaris flar | Golden Apple Enterprises Ltd.
on how to extract the contents of a flar file.

If you have a jumpstart server then build your other machine from it pointing the JumpStart profile at your flash image file.

Otherwise you could precede that with booting off your Solaris CDROM in single user mode, slice up the disk, newfs each slice, mount them to /tmp/a, /tmp/b, etc., extract the cpio file contents into the disk slices, use the installboot command to make the disk bootable.

Store the falsh image on a free disk slice. Boot from cdrom the server that you wish to clone. During the installation, choose Flash Installation and follow the screen through to point to the flash image

And a hint here

That's a lot simpler than my suggestion!

Yeah, thanks a lot! I'm gonna try it. :b:
