I would be extremely grateful for any help on the following matter.

Under AIX 5.1 and for years I have been using perfectly well a USB 3.5" disketted drive. But since yesterday, after a power failure disconnected my e-server, I have been unable to use the drive. Whatever \<operation\> I try to execute, let it be "dosread", "dosdir" or "restore" from a backup diskette, I always get:

\<operation\> 054-158 Cannot open /dev/rfd0: there is a request to a device or address that does not exist.

When I enter:

```nohighlight
lsdev -C
```

The answer is:

```nohighlight
fd0 is defined
```

When I enter:

```nohighlight
lscfg -v
```

The answer is:

```nohighlight
fd0 is not listed
```

When I enter:

```nohighlight
mkdev -l fdo
```

The answer is:

```nohighlight
Method error. 0514-031 A device is already configured ....
```
