In general, the diagnostics will run automatically. However, sometimes
you will be required to select options, inform the system when to
continue, do simple tasks, and exchange diskettes.

Several keys are used to control the diagnostics:
- The Enter key continues the procedure or performs an action.

Anyone have idea?

What is the hardware P??? Is this a LPAR or a standalone machine?

P7 server model IBM Power 710 Express 8231-E1C all resources dedicated to only 1 LPAR managed by an HMC version 7.7

Does anybody have any idea?
I appreciate any suggestions

Ok,
in HMC for that particular LPAR what is the Keylock position?

In properties --> Setting --> under boot you see Keylock position: That should be set to Normal.

Check to see if any body has set it to manual, if so reset it to Normal and reactivate the LPAR.

Keylock position is set to normal as shown in the attached screenshot

Specifically I'm getting : Reference Code 888 102 700 0C5 in HMC and AIX is hang as shown in the attached screenshot.
IBM Power7 reference codes for 888
I appreciate any tip or idea that might help

I would say go ahead and open a call with IBM.

If you find the solution, we will appreciate if you can share it with the forum.

It seems I'm gonna go for a fresh installation as I have no support.

Do you have a licence to run AIX 7.1 on your server? There should be something with that agreement. If not, then IBM will want a fee.

This system is crashing (code 700=Program Interrupt). The system is also having a problem with the dump (dump status code is 0c5=internal dump error).

The server is P7 series server.
Yes the server comes with a preinstalled AIX 7.1

Yes indeed the system is crashing.
I think the only way to get dump is via ASMI.
I'll be thankful if anybody have any idea that might fix the problem.

If your server was pre-installed, then I would revert to the mksysb that you took in advance of the upgrade. This will preserve volume groups you have made/used if you overwrite the original boot disk.

Discuss the issue with the supplier and/or IBM if you still are under warranty.

It is possible that there is a firmware requirement for the upgrade, although I think that unlikely. Normally IBM are good with upgrades.

Robin

Alas no mksysb were taken prior to the upgrade.
I'm no longer under the support/warranty umbrella.
I have done firmware upgrades prior to the upgrade, I don't think the issue lies with firmware.
